The police have arrested a law professional for sending a fake bomb threat on the email of a private company to cancel his girlfriend's interview. The accused, who is a legal expert in a private company, reportedly did it to patch up with his girlfriend, with whom he had a rift.
The police said the accused had been identified as Aniket Pal (29), a resident of Kolkata. He pursued an LLM degree from London.
On Tuesday, the police received information about a bomb threat in the DLF Horizon Building in Sector 43. Bomb and dog squads were dispatched, but nothing suspicious was found. Security officials of the company filed a complaint that around 9.15 am an email was received, threatening to blow up the building.
An FIR has been registered at Sushant Lok police station.
The police arrested the accused on Wednesday. “The accused revealed that he had a disagreement with his girlfriend, who was about to attend an interview at a company in the DLF building. He managed to find the centre's email address and sent the mail. He thought that it would create an atmosphere of fear, preventing his girlfriend from taking the interview, and she would ask for his help. It would help resolve the conflict. We have seized the mobile phone and other devices from the accused. We are questioning him. The accused has no criminal record,” said ACP Vikas Kaushik.
