Rewari: Man wanted in 150 battery theft cases held

The Rewari police has arrested a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 and wanted in nearly 150 cases of battery theft and robbery etc in Haryana and Rajasthan.

DSP (Bawal) Surender Sheoran said a team of CIA (Dharuhera) in-charge Inspector Yogesh Hooda arrested Azad, a resident of Guwarka village in Nuh district. Azad is the kingpin of an inter-state battery-theft gang. “More than 150 cases have been registered against him in Rajasthan and Rewari, Jhajjar, Mewat, Gurugram, Mahendragarh and other districts of the state for battery theft and robbery,” the DSP said, adding that Azad has also been declared a proclaimed offender by the court in several cases. The accused was remanded in one-day police custody.
