Mayor Suman Bahamani, along with Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar and several other councillors, on Sunday inspected the solid waste management plant in Kail village of Yamunanagar district. They reviewed the construction of the Rs 7.24-crt shed and concrete floor being built at the facility.

The shed is being built to ensure that the waste disposal process is not affected by rain and the machinery of the facility remains safe. During the inspection, the councillors reviewed various waste management procedures in detail and observed the waste segregation process at the plant.

“RDF, biosoil, bricks and gravel are being separated from the waste and organic fertiliser is being produced through bio-remediation technology at the plant,” said Kumar. “The ground is being paved for the shed and construction is progressing rapidly. The shed will prevent mud and slippery conditions even during rains. There will be no hindrance to waste disposal at the facility during the monsoons and the workers will also get some relief.”

The Mayor said the shed would solve problems created by the rains for machines and workers at the plant. “The shed would ensure timely management of waste and strengthen the twin cities’ cleanliness system by providing relief from the issue of garbage heaps,” she said.

Chief Sanitation Inspectors Harjeet Singh and Vinod Beniwal and councillors Reena Rastogi, Priyank Sharma and Ankit were present on the occasion.
