Mayor inspects newly constructed community centre in Yamunanagar

Mayor Suman Bahamani inspected the newly constructed Sant Gadge Ambedkar Bhawan at Gadhauli village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar–Jagadhri (MCYJ). The community centre has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 2.37 crore.

During the inspection, the Mayor reviewed the facilities available at the centre and issued necessary instructions to officials. She visited the large hall, guest rooms, dressing rooms, caretaker rooms, kitchen and other amenities designed to host religious, social and family events.

She also sought details from officials regarding the quality of construction and the condition of the facilities, directing them to ensure that all essential amenities were made available to visitors.

“The Municipal Corporation’s goal is to provide improved community facilities across various localities in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri, so that residents can easily organise social, cultural and family events,” said Bahamani.

She added that the construction of the community centre would benefit residents of Gadhauli village and adjoining areas, as they would no longer have to travel long distances to hold events.

The Mayor instructed officials and the Municipal Councillor concerned to fix reasonable user charges for events held at the centre. She said separate charges should be determined for weddings, birthday celebrations, engagement ceremonies, condolence meetings and other social and religious functions to ensure the facility’s proper maintenance and efficient operation.

She emphasised that community centres formed an important part of a csity’s social life and their appropriate use and upkeep were essential.

“Officials of the MCYJ must act responsibly to ensure that the centre’s facilities remain available to the public for a long time,” she said.

She further directed officials to pay special attention to cleanliness, electricity, water supply and other basic amenities so that visitors did not face inconvenience.

Municipal Councillor Santosh Rani, Assistant Engineer Mrinal Jaiswal, Junior Engineer Manish Kumar were also present on the occasion.
