Mayor Suman Bahamani and officials of the municipal corporation’s engineering branch, sanitation branch and the Public Health Department recently inspected a drain in Kirti Nagar, Ward 9, behind Tejli Sports Complex. The drain had been overflowing, with water entering the sports complex.

She directed the officials of the municipal corporation and the Public Health Department to work in coordination to find a permanent solution to the issue. Municipal Engineer Mrinal Jaiswal said the municipal corporation would lay a pipeline to fix the problem.

He said an estimate had been prepared for the project, and a tender would soon be awarded.

“This will eliminate the problem of dirty water entering the sports complex,” Jaiswal said.

The Mayor directed Public Health Department Executive Engineer Dinesh Gaba to repair all nearby sewerage lines. She also inspected the Tejli Sports Complex, along with Haryana Olympic Association vice-president Bharat Bhushan Juyal and District Sports Officer Shilpi Gupta.

“It is our constant endeavour to strengthen the facilities at sports complexes, and provide a healthy and positive environment for the youth to practice. To ensure healthy city residents, the municipal corporation has installed open gyms in all parks, where residents — including the youth — exercise daily to maintain their physical fitness,” the Mayor said.

She added that the MC aimed to make the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri beautiful, clean and hygienic.
