Directions issued for beautification of Budhakhera Road at Indri escape stretch, slip roads and major chowks and intersections
Karnal Mayor Renu Bala Gupta and MLA Jagmohan Anand on Tuesday held a meeting with officials of the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) and reviewed the ongoing works being carried out in the city. They directed the officials to expedite these for timely completion.
Taking serious note of delays, Gupta and Anand instructed officials to first conduct feasibility checks before preparing estimates for any development work. “No project should begin without proper feasibility assessment. Coordination among departments is essential to ensure quality and timely completion,” said Gupta.
She emphasised that citizens should not suffer due to administrative lapses and directed strict action wherever necessary.
Anand stressed the need for dedication and a positive approach from officials. “Development works must reflect efficiency and commitment. Residents expect visible progress, and we must work with sincerity and speed,” he said, directing the officers to maintain parks properly and improve the city’s overall aesthetics.
Commissioner Vaishali Sharma said the KMC would act promptly on the directions issued. “All divisions of the KMC have been instructed to fast-track ongoing works. Proposals requiring approval will be placed in the upcoming House meeting,” she said.
During the meeting, directions were issued for beautification of Budhakhera Road at the Indri escape stretch, slip roads and major chowks and intersections. Officials were directed to complete the road from Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk to Meerut Road at the earliest and construct several major roads using cement concrete.
The House will consider proposals to purchase 1,000 new streetlights for installation across the city and construct a single-pillar flyover from Mahatma Gandhi Chowk to Nirmal Kutia Chowk. Plans for a multi-layer parking facility at the old vegetable market and a commercial space building at the old grain market, to be completed by July, were also reviewed.
They also discussed developing parking and a commercial centre at the old municipal office site, beautification work from Maharaja Agrasen Chowk to Geeta Dwar, widening and beautification of the road from Meera Ghati Chowk to Namaste Chowk, and installation of musical fountains at Karan Tal and Karan Park.
Meanwhile, instructions were issued to remove illegal encroachments in Sector 6 and green belts, conduct demarcation from Mughal Canal Sector 12 to Mela Ram School, and clear accumulated garbage to prevent fire incidents.
The Mayor and MLA directed the officials to issue show-cause notices to builders of Alpha City, Chandigarh City, and Parsvnath City over incomplete roadworks causing inconvenience to the residents.
Further, the NHAI representative was directed to ensure cleanliness along the highways and cover broken drain slabs immediately, while the UHBVN officials were instructed to launch a special drive to remove tangled and hanging wires and replace damaged poles.
