MC to issue notices to owners of vacant plots in Yamunanagar, Jagadhri

The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) will soon issue notices to owners of vacant plots in twin cities. The MCYJ will clear garbage from vacant plots and charge the cost of cleaning work from the plot owners.

Giving this information, Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad said the MCYJ had begun a survey of vacant plots. Teams under Chief Sanitary Inspector Anil Nain have been formed for the purpose, he added.

“If the MCYJ teams find plots without boundary walls and filled with garbage, action will be taken against the owners by issuing notices under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act,” Mahabir Parsad said, adding that a number of plots were lying vacant in colonies falling under areas of the MCYJ.

“Due to the absence of boundary walls, people throw garbage in vacant plots. Large piles gradually accumulate on private plots, causing inconvenience to the residents living nearby. Besides, bushes continue to grow and stagnant water in many plots becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes,” said the MC Commissioner.

“Besides issuing notices to the plot owners, they will be asked to clean-up and build boundary walls. If the plot owners fail to do so, the MCYJ will get the plots cleaned and expenses incurred will have to be borne by the owners,” said Mahabir Parsad. The MC Commissioner has instructed all owners to build boundary walls around their plots.

According to information, there are vacant plots in various areas of the twin cities, including Model Town, Sectors 17, 18 and 15, Sarojini Colony. Parsad said he had issued instructions to the officials to issue notices under Section 309 to the plot owners, who failed to comply with orders.
