MC’s Swachh Bharat Mission team conducts awareness campaign in Yamunanagar

The municipal corporation’s Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) team conducted a special awareness campaign in Yamunanagar under the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) programme.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness about proper waste management and environmental protection. As per instructions of Mayor Suman Bahamani and Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad, the MC teams collected recyclable waste door to door in various wards, colonies and neighbourhoods using RRR vehicles.
During the campaign, the members of the teams appealed to local residents not to throw recyclable items in the general waste, but to hand them over to the RRR vehicle so they could be properly reused.
During the campaign, MC officials and employees also encouraged citizens to separate wet and dry waste. They were told that proper waste segregation not only improved the city’s sanitation system but also made the recycling process more effective.
Information, Education, Communication (IEC) specialist Durgesh explained that awareness was being created through RRR vehicles in every colony and neighbourhood in every Ward.
“People often throw away old clothes, books, toys, furniture or other useful items, even though they can be reused. These items can be useful to those in need. This campaign is an important step towards inculcating a sense of environmental responsibility in people,” said IEC specialist Durgesh.
He said that if every citizen adopted proper waste management, it could significantly contribute to keeping the city clean and beautiful.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar urged citizens to actively participate in this campaign and properly segregate their household waste. “They should hand over reusable items to the RRR vehicles, thus achieving the objective of reduce, reuse and recycle promoting both cleanliness and environmental protection,” said AMC Dheeraj Kumar.
