A social media post by Congress MLA Gokul Setia from Sirsa targeting former MP and Congress leader Brijendra Singh has stirred a controversy. The post, shared on Setia’s Facebook account, appeared to mock Singh’s recent “Sadbhavna Yatra.”

In the post, Setia wrote that those who once enjoyed perks in the BJP are now walking the streets with the help of Congress and are trying to become the “Rahul Gandhi of Haryana.” The post has drawn widespread attention online, with supporters advising Setia to maintain decorum, avoid boastful remarks, and remain loyal to party principles. Some even commented that he joined the Congress after failing to secure a ticket in the BJP.

Supporters and social media users have reacted strongly to Setia’s post. Comments ranged from urging him to respect party colleagues to questioning his own political loyalty. Many noted that both Singh and Setia were once affiliated with the BJP before joining the Congress.

Setia had told the media earlier that he did not participate in the Sadbhavna Yatra because Brijendra Singh did not attend his brother’s wedding. Responding in a podcast, Singh clarified that he had been unable to attend the wedding as he was participating in the Sadbhavna Yatra.

About a month ago, Brijendra Singh’s ‘Sadbhavna Yatra’ reached Sirsa. He was accompanied by Congress district president Santosh Beniwal, while no other legislators attended. Singh stated that joining the yatra was voluntary and stressed that the emphasis was on party work, not mere presence.

Earlier, Leader of Opposition and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda criticised Singh’s Sadbhavna Yatra, refusing to recognise it as an official Congress programme.
