Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today accused PM Narendra Modi of taking out money from the pockets of the poor and giving it to corporate friends.

Addressing a rally in Naraingarh, he said the money in the pocket and bank account of the poor for education of their children, health and future was as important as respect.

“Modi keeps respecting you, but your pockets are being emptied. Respect alone won’t sustain you. The bank account of Adani is getting money non-stop, and the same amount is going out from the accounts of the poor,” he said.

Striking a chord with people, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said: “Whenever you need me, just give an order, and I will be there for you.”

Highlighting the ‘donkey route’ problem, he said: “Youth of Haryana are going to America in search of jobs after selling agricultural land and taking loan. They told me that they put their lives at risk, and some of their friends were shot. I met a family in Karnal and when they were talking over a video call, a young boy came running, held the screen and asked his father to come back. His father wanted to cry, but he chose to smile in front of his son.”

“The BJP brought black farm laws. Land of farmers is being snatched in the name of development while no land from Ambani or Adani is taken for projects. Farmers’ struggle to sell paddy and get a fair price for their produce. PM Modi does not want to waive farmers’ loans. I want to say if you (PM) can’t waive farmers’ loan, loans to corporates should also not be waived. We don’t want two Indias. We want one India with justice for all,” he added.

Rahul also accused PM Modi of favouring Adani in the defence sector, and said “A huge sum of defence budget goes to Adani and in return Adani supports the PM’s party. The Agnipath scheme is also a medium to deprive pension to those opting for the Army.”

In a bid to show the united face of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi got former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja to hold hands. Starting from Narayangarh, the Haryana Vijay Sankalp Yatra reached Dosarka in Mullana, and later it entered Shahabad and Ladwa segments. The Gandhi siblings addressed a rally at Thanesar.

He also raised the issues of drug addiction and GST in Mullana. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi also targeted the BJP government.
