Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel today said PM Narendra Modi's mindset deteriorates significantly during elections, and the kind of language he uses is not in keeping with the dignity of his office.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, he said during elections, PM Modi sometimes targeted Muslims, and other times, he misled people by telling blatant lies. He added that the PM's excessive campaigning in the state elections was inappropriate. But Modi is more of a “prachar mantri” than a “pradhan mantri”.

Baghel said the whole country had its eyes on Haryana elections because the state had always given a new direction to the national political landscape.

He said the decision to remove Manohar Lal Khattar from the CM's post just before the elections after nine and a half years indicated that the BJP had foreseen its defeat here. He noted that Saini could not face the Assembly even once.

Baghel said that in these elections, the BJP is facing the anger of the people across the state due to farmers, soldiers, and wrestlers. He expressed regret that neither PM Modi, nor Home Minister Amit Shah, nor BJP president JP Nadda had issued any clarification on Kangana's statement.

He said with the introduction of the Agnipath scheme, not only have young people’s job opportunities been compromised, but the social prestige associated with the Army had also been diminished.

On the issue of the mistreatment of women wrestlers, he said the wrestlers who brought glory to India in the Olympics, World Championships, and Asian Games were subjected to injustice.
