Municipal corporation turns garbage spot into green space in Jagadhri

The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), has cleared heaps of garbage from in front of the Solid Waste Management Plant in Kail village (Jagadhri), providing relief to residents from the foul odour in the area.

After removing the garbage heaps, the MCYJ planted fragrant potted plants and evergreen ornamental plants at the site. Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar inspected the plant and instructed the staff to ensure proper maintenance of the plantation.

According to information, heaps of garbage had accumulated on the road in front of the plant a few months ago. Following the issuance of a new tender for door-to-door garbage collection, the MCYJ recently cleaned the garbage dumped outside the plant and planted saplings, along with placing decorative flower pots at the site.

The area has now been transformed into a green space with evergreen ornamental plants.

Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad said the MCYJ is working to make the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri clean, beautiful and hygienic. He said every road in the twin cities is being cleaned and beautified, and garbage points where people used to dump waste in the open have been eliminated from the municipal area.

He further added that monitoring teams have been formed to ensure that people do not dump garbage in the open again. Benches have also been placed at certain locations, he said.

“The filth lying in the surrounding area of the plant has been cleaned. The garbage inside the plant was also sprayed to eliminate odour. Officers and employees from the sanitation and engineering branches worked together to clean the area. A small garden and green space are being developed around the main gate of the plant,” said Mahabir Parsad.

The Solid Waste Management Plant is located on Ambala Road in Kail village. Earlier, people passing through this route faced the problem of foul smell. Now, after the plantation of saplings, the environment has become clean, allowing people to breathe in a healthier atmosphere. The Municipal Commissioner has appealed to the public not to throw garbage in the open.
