Narnaul court awards life imprisonment to man for killing wife

Sunita’s brother lodges a complaint at Nizampur police station

A local court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife.

The Court of Harshali Chowdhary, Additional Sessions Judge, Narnaul, sentenced the accused, Dashrath, a resident of Musnauta village under the Nizampur police station area, to life imprisonment under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A fine of Rs 25,000 has also been imposed on the accused.

As per the police and prosecution, Dashrath frequently quarrelled with his wife, Sunita. Owing to some dispute, he allegedly strangled her to death on October 13, 2024.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by Sunita’s brother Satish Kumar, a resident of Bansur district in Rajasthan, a case of murder was registered at the Nizampur police station.

The accused was subsequently arrested. During the investigation, the police team gathered crucial technical evidence and later presented a chargesheet before the court.

During the court hearing, Assistant District Attorney Dilawar Singh argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.

On the basis of the evidence and arguments presented in the case, the court convicted the accused and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

A statement issued by the Police Department maintained that the case was decided in a short time due to the effective implementation of the new criminal law and prompt investigation.

“Mahendragarh Superintendent of Police Pooja Vashisth has issued clear instructions to all SHOs, police post in-charges and investigating officers of the district police to register cases without delay and take effective legal action on the basis of significant technical evidence so that the criminals can get severe punishment from the court and the victims’ families can get justice,” the statement added.
