Taking stern note of the death of nine-year-old girl Rida by falling into a rainwater filled pit in Sohna on Sunday, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to Gurugram Commissioner of Police (CP) KK Rao and Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Yadav. The commission sought report from the both entities within four weeks on action initiated against culprits, compensation provided to the deceased and status of similar pits in the area.
Rida and Sumit, 8, were returning home from their tuition when they reportedly fell into a deep pit reportedly dug by a private company for laying sewerage lines. The girl died on spot, while the boy was still critical.
