The daughter of former MLA Relu Ram Punia, Sonia, who is convicted along with her husband Sanjeev Kumar in the murder of her own father and seven other family members, is yet to be released from jail as no bail bond could be furnished in the court.

However, her husband was released from the Karnal jail after his family furnished the bail bonds two days ago. Advocate RS Khatana said no one came forward on Monday to furnish bail bonds for Sonia. Some people had contacted him in this regard on Saturday, and there was hope that someone might come forward on Tuesday.
