The Gurugram-Rewari-Mahendragarh-Bhiwani belt of south Haryana has expressed disappointment over the state Budget 2026-27, with the Opposition alleging that no major project has been announced for the region.

Senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav said the region had high expectations but was left disillusioned. “Despite being considered developmentally backward in several aspects, no major project or special allocation has been announced for South Haryana in this Budget,” he said.

He pointed out that districts such as Gurugram, Rewari and Mahendragarh played a crucial role in the formation of the BJP government, with both MPs, most MLAs and two Cabinet Ministers belonging to the ruling party. “People were expecting significant announcements related to industry, healthcare, infrastructure and education, but there is nothing substantial for the region,” he said.

Raising concerns about Gurugram’s civic issues, Yadav said, “For years, announcements have been made regarding the construction of a major government hospital, yet there is no tangible progress. The city continues to suffer from severe traffic congestion, and during the rainy season, waterlogging becomes a major problem due to the lack of proper drainage infrastructure. Questions are also being raised about the state of law and order in several areas. Despite these pressing issues, the Budget does not provide any specific or concrete provisions to address them.”

However, BJP leaders rejected the charge of neglect. Health Minister Arti Singh Rao said the Budget would bring a “revolutionary change” in healthcare services. She highlighted the target to administer free HPV vaccines to nearly three lakh adolescent girls and announced, “Special Healthy Women Empowered Family Clinics will be established in every district hospital and every sub-divisional hospital in the state, which will lead to a marked improvement in maternal and child health services.” She also cited projects approved for the Narnaul region, including the development of Baba Khetnath Government Ayurvedic College.

Mahendragarh MLA Kanwar Singh Yadav termed the Budget farmer-friendly, saying the proposed Haryana Agri Discom would ensure uninterrupted power supply to agricultural districts. Former minister and Narnaul MLA Om Prakash Yadav said the Budget would boost industrial growth.

In Rewari district, a veterinary hospital for Mamdia Asampur village and a Primary Health Centre for Teet village in Bawal have been approved. Bawal MLA Dr Krishan Kumar welcomed the move, saying long-pending demands of villagers had been fulfilled.
