No Haryana edu institution among top 100 in NIRF ‘overall’ rankings

For the fifth consecutive year, no Haryana institution has appeared among the top 100 in the ‘overall’ category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings, 2024. It was in 2019, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, was placed 89th in the rankings.

In the universities category, Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Ambala, has been ranked 71st while Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad, has earned the 92nd spot. Both are private varsities. No government university or the Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh, has appeared among the top 100 this year. In 2023, there were four varsities among the top 100, including two state universities.

In the NIRF rankings released by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today, the institutions are ranked along Teaching Learning and Resources; Research and Professional Practice; Graduation Outcome; Outreach and Inclusivity; and Perception parameters.

No college of the state is listed among the top 100 in the country. The same is the story in Research Institutions, Innovation and Architecture and Planning categories and the newly introduced Open University one.

Among engineering colleges, only the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, was ranked among the top 100 institutions though its rank fell from 58th in 2023 to 81st this year.

Among management institutes, there are four from Haryana among the top 100 institutions, two less than last year. The MDI, Gurugram, has improved its rank from 13th in 2023 to 11th this year while the IIM, Rohtak, has retained its 12th spot. The Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurugram, is ranked 52nd and BML Munjal University, Gurugram, has earned the 83rd position.
