The Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, authorities have imposed strict restrictions on Holi-related activities on the campus and constituted a 10-member high-level monitoring committee headed by the proctor to ensure discipline, safety and law and order during the upcoming festival. The university has banned the use of colours, water guns, balloons, loud music systems and other Holi-related materials within its premises.
As per directions issued by the proctor, all HODs, wardens and security officials have been instructed to prohibit Holi celebrations inside academic buildings, hostels and other institutional areas. Surprise inspections will be conducted and any violation will invite immediate disciplinary action.
The Dean, Students’ Welfare (DSW) has been asked to deploy student volunteers for vigilance and monitor activity zones for unauthorised events. To ensure real-time monitoring and enforcement, the university has formed a monitoring committee headed by the proctor as convener. The panel includes the DSW, Chief Wardens (Boys and Girls), HOD Physical Education, Professor Incharge (General Administration), Director Public Relations, Incharge Security, Controller Security and Director Sports as members.
The security wing has been directed to deploy additional personnel and enforce round-the-clock patrolling at entry and exit points, parks, parking areas and internal roads. Barricades will be installed where necessary and entry will be allowed only with valid identity cards. Authorities have also been instructed to seize vehicles or equipment involved in violations.
The university administration has also prohibited the sale of colours, water balloons and other Holi-related items at canteens, kiosks and vending areas on the campus. Operators have been directed to ensure hygiene, close kiosks as per prescribed timings and prevent gatherings near eateries. Wardens have been asked to conduct room checks in hostels and prevent outsider entry or any rowdy behaviour.
The PR Department has been asked to launch an awareness campaign and submit daily compliance reports to the VC till March 5.
