Despite the call for a two-day strike given by the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA), all OPDs and emergency services were functioning normally at the Ambala Cantonment Civil Hospital on Monday. Doctors were seen attending patients at the hospital, with no impact of the strike here.

To assess the situation, Ambala Civil Surgeon Dr Rakesh Sehal inspected the OPDs at the Civil Hospital.

Dr Sehal claimed that no doctor in Ambala district was on strike, adding that, “All the major hospitals, including civil hospitals in Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment and the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Naraingarh, along with the primary and community health centres, have been functioning smoothly. The headquarters had directed to cancel all the casual leaves, however no doctor in Ambala applied for the same today. All the doctors have been on duty and all the services were functional.”

“However, as the call for a two-day strike was given, backup arrangements were made from NHM, AYUSH, ESIC, and junior and senior resident doctors from MM Medical College, Mullana. I have visited the civil hospitals and also interacted with the doctors,” he added.

Meanwhile, in Kurukshetra, HCMSA’s district president Dr Tejinder said, “The association members were forced to give the call of strike to press for their long-pending demands.”

Meanwhile, Kurukshetra Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhbir Singh said very few doctors were on strike, but hospitals were operational and the strike had no impact on the OPDs and emergency services.
