Nod to survey on more railway lines on Ambala-Chandigarh route: Vij

State Cabinet minister Anil Vij today said that the Railways had given approval for the “Final Location Survey” (FLS) for the construction of the third and fourth railway lines on the Ambala-Chandigarh route.

Thanking Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Vij said he received official confirmation through a letter from the minister. The survey will begin soon.

Vij had raised the demand before the Railway Minister in view of the increasing number of passengers between Ambala and Chandigarh. A large number of employees, students, traders, and workers commute daily between Ambala Cantonment and Chandigarh.

He said, “Lakhs of passengers from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh travel daily on this route, leading to heavy passenger pressure on trains. Improved connectivity will boost regional economic activities.”

He said to improve connectivity between Dera Bassi and Zirakpur bypass, a 10-km spur (above-ground) road would be constructed, directly connecting vehicles coming from Ambala to the bypass.
