New Delhi: The central leadership of AAP is fighting rumours that it has decided to extend support to other political parties. Speculation of AAP deciding to support nominees of other political parties at some constituencies has been doing the rounds. “Rumour mongering is afoot by vested interests, especially political parties, about AAP’s support. We appeal to our cadre to be on guard and dispel all such rumours. The central leadership of the party is keeping a watch on the situation,” said AAP MP Sushil Gupta said on Sunday. TNS
Panipat has 30 pink polling stations
Panipat: To encourage women voters’ participation, the district administration has set up 30 pink polling stations in all four constituencies of the district. Sumedha Kataria, Deputy Commissioner-cum-district election officer, said pink polling booths were set up to draw women to polling booths and motivate them to vote. These booths would be maintained by women staff, she said. A total of 864 polling stations were established in Panipat Urban, Panipat Rural, Samalkha and Israna constituencies, 58 of which were model stations. TNS
Liquor, cash worth Rs 24.07 cr seized
Chandigarh: Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal on Sunday said after the model code of conduct was enforced in the state, the police, Income Tax Department and Excise and Taxation Department had recovered liquor, cash, intoxicating substances and other items worth Rs 24.07 crore. He said 4.01 lakh litres of liquor had been seized. He said drugs and narcotic substances worth Rs 3.93 crore and Rs 6.15 crore in illegal cash had been seized. He said silver worth Rs 4.14 lakh and other items for luring voters had also been seized. TNS
