Open gym to walking track: Stone laid for Rs 6.14-cr park in Yamunanagar
Green belt to help MC check encroachment in Old Hamida area
The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri will develop a park on 6 acres near Hamida Head in Yamunanagar at a cost of Rs 6.14 crore.
MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora and Mayor Suman Bahamani laid the foundation stone of the park in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad and Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar.
MC Mahabir Parsad and Executive Engineer Vikas Dhiman presented a blueprint of the amenities and features to be provided in the park.
The mayor and commissioner said the park would have a 1.8-m wide and 2-km long walking track. “There will be swings and a playground for children. Four huts will be built in the park, where people can sit, relax and enjoy the nature. To promote greenery, extensive plantation will be undertaken,” said Mayor Suman Bahamani.
She added that the park would also have drinking water facilities, an open gym, an electrical room, a guard room and high-mast lights.
“Two modern toilets for men and women will be constructed. The development of the park along the Western Jamuna Canal will allow thousands of area residents to enjoy a clean environment. The lush green surroundings will provide an ideal setting for fitness and yoga enthusiasts,” she added.
The mayor said the development of the park would also prevent encroachments in the Old Hamida area.
She added that a 5-ft wall would be built around the park to prevent encroachments.
MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora said apart from its aesthetic appeal, the park would also play a vital role in promoting better health and lifestyle among residents.
“The triple-engine government is rapidly accelerating development works in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri,” Arora added.
