Around 70 per cent of HCMS doctors posted at Civil Hospitals and other government health centres in the district observed strike on Monday, the first day of the two-day agitation called by the HCMS Association.

The situation compelled the district health authorities to arrange alternative medical staff from private colleges to ensure that the patients did not face any inconvenience.

“As many as 140 out of a total of 201 doctors in the district observed strike on Monday. However, OPD and emergency services at the Civil Hospital, Jhajjar, were managed smoothly with remaining doctors and alternative arrangements. Several doctors from World Medical College were also deputed to the hospital in view of the strike,” said Deputy Commissioner S Ravindra Patil.

The DC also visited the Civil Hospital and interacted with both patients and the doctors on duty to assess the situation.
