Adampur MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi on Friday had an emotional outburst in the wake of the defeat of his son Bhavya Bishnoi in the Hisar Lok Sabha contest.

Interacting with party workers at his office at the Adampur mandi, Bishnoi said his father Bhajan Lal must be turning in his grave as his own people had inflicted a humiliating defeat on Bhavya.

“I urge you to speak to people in villages in the segment. I will come to meet you on June 2 on the death anniversary of my father. I am ready to quit politics if people want and will offer my support to any new face you want to bring forth in Adampur,” he said to his party workers.

He said he did not want to join politics, but was asked by his father to contest the 1998 byelection. “Pitaji ne mere se kaha ki tere bhai ka laxan tanne bera hai. Yo naas karega mera. Tu mera naam aage le ja sakta hai (My father told me you know your brother. He will spoil the family name but you are capable of carrying forward the family legacy). I agreed to my father after his emotional interaction,” he said, maintaining his father wanted him to join politics due to the drinking habits of his brother.

Bhavya trailed by 23,227 votes from his nearest rival BJP’s Brijendra Singh. Overall, Bhavya forfeited his security deposit and came third in Hisar.
