The state government has launched the work for setting up a rail-linked integrated logistics park (ILP) at Firozepur village of the district.

To be developed by the private sector, the ILP will provide transportation and connectivity facilities for industrial goods and services to various ports with customised end-to-end solutions to industries.

A spokesperson of the local administration said that Distribution Logistics Infrastructure (DLI), a private sector group, would develop the park. He said the project, costing Rs 200 crore, is expected to come up at Firozepur village by the end of January 2020.

Describing it as an important milestone in the matter of providing basic infrastructure for export and import units dealing in various kinds of goods and services, he said it would be the first-of-its-kind project in the region.

Haryana Industries Minister Vipul Goel said that the ILP would play a pivotal role in the enhancement of commercial prospects of the region by providing connectivity to ports and the rest of the country. Claiming that it would not only generate employment opportunities, he said that it would also contribute towards the economic growth of the region.

K Sathianathan, MD, DLI, said that besides providing a complete logistics ecosystem with the largest basket of services, the park would enable customised end-to-end logistics solutions.

Logistics parks are a key policy initiative of the Union Government to improve the country’s logistics sector by lowering overall freight costs, reducing vehicular pollution and congestion, and cutting warehousing costs. Spread over 70 acres, it will have excellent rail and road connectivity with all the highways including the KMP and KGP which will be within a distance of 6.6 km.

Infrastructure facilities like rail siding with train examination, platform at rail siding for handling and storage of containers and bulk cargo, paved area for storage and handling of containers, custom-bonded area with warehouse for export-import cargo, automobile logistics park, liquid tank farm, material handling equipment and other ancillary support facilities will be provided.
