Panjab University, Chandigarh, won the North Zone Inter-University Women’s Tennis Tournament by defeating Delhi in the final match at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, secured the third position, whereas the host team, the MDU, Rohtak, finished fourth in the tournament. For her outstanding performance throughout the championship, Saira from Panjab University, Chandigarh, was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament.

At the valedictory function, MDU Registrar Dr Krishan Kant, felicitated the winning and runner-up teams and said that sports played a vital role in nurturing discipline, leadership qualities, and team spirit among students. He lauded the performance of women athletes and remarked that such tournaments motivate students to excel at national and international platforms.

Special Guest Dr Laxmi Gupta, in her address, highlighted that sports activities at universities were essential for the holistic development of students. She encouraged women players to move forward with confidence, dedication, and consistent practice.

The MDU sports council president, Dr Rajvanti, director (sports), Dr Shakuntala Beniwal, assistant director of sports Dr Tejpal and tennis coach Shravan Kumar were among those present on the occasion.
