Rohtak MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra today said that better parking infrastructure and traffic regulation were the need of the hour.

He told the district administration and the police to ensure effective management of traffic and remove encroachments to get rid of jams. “As clean drinking water is a basic right of the people, the Public Health Department should work in this direction effectively,” said Batra.

Claiming that the residents had been facing severe shortage of potable water, Batra asked the administration to resolve the issue immediately instead of waiting for the AMRUT-II project.

He told the officials concerned to resolve the issues pertaining to drainage and replace faulty pipelines at the earliest. The Congress MLA said grant of Rs 25 crore had been granted for the segment and the road repair work would commence soon.

Batra clarified that the state government does not have any proposal to build another elevated road in the city, nor would it be justified.

“Recently, some news circulated regarding the construction of a new elevated road from Ambedkar Chowk to Delhi Bypass, which created confusion among the business community. I have personally checked with the senior-most officers and can say that there is no such proposal under consideration as of now,” he pointed out.

“There is no such justification for any elevated road as it will ruin the markets of Rohtak and cause heavy losses to the traders. If the government still decides to construct it, the Congress will oppose it,” he stated.
