Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the the Kundli-Manesar section of the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway at Sultanpur village in Gurugram on Monday. A sum of Rs 6,400 crore has been spent on the project and 3,846 acres acquired at a cost of Rs 2,788 crore.

A spokesman said the length of the stretch from Kundli to Manesar was 83.320 km. He said it would have four railway overbridges, 14 major and minor bridges, 56 underpasses and agricultural vehicular underpasses, seven intersections and seven toll plazas.

He said the objective was to provide a high-speed link of northern Haryana with southern districts and uninterrupted high-speed link for traffic, especially commercial, from Haryana to neighbouring states. He said it would decongest traffic from Delhi and reduce pollution.

Modi would also inaugurate the Ballabhgarh Metro at Sultanpur village. Ballabhgarh would become the fourth town in Haryana to get Metro connectivity after Gurugram, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh.

AAP workers detained

Gurugram: State AAP president Naveen Jaihind alleged that party workers, including local unit chief Sudhir Yadav, had been detained. “We do not know their location. This is the height of vindictiveness and political vendetta as political activists are treated like street criminals,” Jaihind said. The police refused to comment. TNS
