Chandigarh, May 3
Intensifying their operation against illegal weapons, the Haryana Police seized 136 country-made pistols, 41 desi kattas, two revolvers, 228 cartridges, 12 magazines, 19 knives and a sword from different areas of the state during a special fortnight drive.
Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava said here today that during the drive, 185 cases were registered in this regard.
The DGP said the STF on May 1 had arrested the most-wanted dreaded gangster Sube Gujjar.
The police also nabbed 216 proclaimed offenders and 230 bail jumpers during the drive. The maximum numbers of POs (30) were arrested from Gurugram, followed by Karnal (20) and Faridabad (18). The Crime Bureau also put 42 POs behind bars.
Cops also booked 560 persons under the Gambling Act and recovered over Rs 21.29 lakh as stake money from their possession.
