Poll arena: Cong bus to tour state in 7 days, BJP opts for roadshows

CHANDIGARH: With Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda hitting the poll trail in Haryana for the upcoming parliamentary elections for the BJP and Congress, respectively, from tomorrow, the political temperatures in the state are set to soar.

With Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda hitting the poll trail in Haryana for the upcoming parliamentary elections for the BJP and Congress, respectively, from tomorrow, the political temperatures in the state are set to soar.

Khattar would set the ball rolling for the parliamentary poll by conducting a roadshow and mass contact programme at Panipat on March 26, said the CM’s media adviser Rajiv Jain.

On the other hand, Hooda, who heads the poll coordination committee of the Haryana unit of the Congress, will set out on a state-wide bus yatra with other senior leaders of his party from Gurugram tomorrow.

“In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, the CM has decided to step up his ‘connect to people’ campaign in the state through public meetings and roadshows in order to remain in touch with the masses in the urban and rural areas. He wants to interact with the common man and disseminate the policies of the BJP governments at the Centre and the state aimed at all-round development,” said Jain.

Starting with roadshows at Panipat on March 26, Khattar will hold similar activities at Assandh (Karnal) and Matenhel (Jhajjar) on March 28, Jui (Bhiwani) and Bahadurgarh (Jhajjar) on March 30, and Siwan (Kaithal) and Bilaspur (Yamunanagar) on April 1, he added.

Meanwhile, Hooda and other senior Congress leaders like former Union Minister Kumari Selja, state president Ashok Tanwar, CLP leader Kiran Choudhry and AICC media in-charge Randeep Surjewala will start their bus yatra from Rajiv Chowk, Gurugram, at 9.15 am tomorrow.

After public meetings at Radha Krishan Mandir (Badshahpur), Raghav Vatika (Sohna), Dharuhera (Rewari), Kasola Chowk (Bawal), Naiwali (Rewari), Mandi Ateli (Mahendragarh), the leaders will stay for the night at Narnaul.

Hooda’s media adviser Sunil Parti said the bus would cover Bhiwani, Hisar and Sirsa on March 27, and after travelling across the state on March 28, 29 and 30, the bus yatra will end at Faridabad on March 31.
