Punjab gives nod for bridge over Ghaggar

CHANDIGARH: Decks have been cleared for the construction of a bridge over Ghaggar river in Sectors 26-27 and 20-21 in Panchkula with the Punjab Government according in-principle approval for the work and connective road falling in its jurisdiction.

Decks have been cleared for the construction of a bridge over Ghaggar river in Sectors 26-27 and 20-21 in Panchkula with the Punjab Government according in-principle approval for the work and connective road falling in its jurisdiction. With the construction of this bridge, a long-pending demand of area residents will be fulfilled.

This was informed during a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today to review the progress of the CM’s announcements related to various departments, including Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), town and country planning, animal husbandry and dairying, medical education, women and child development, social justice and empowerment and welfare of Scheduled Castes and backward classes.

It was informed that the matter regarding the construction of the bridge is being taken up in co-ordination with the Punjab Government. A portion of this proposed bridge falls in Punjab. The CM also directed the HSVP to explore the possibilities of constructing a road linking NH-73 and the Chandigarh international airport so as to provide direct connectivity to the people of Barwala, Raipur Rani and Naraingarh.

Directing administrative secretaries for speedy implementation of development works announced by him, the CM said he would convene meetings with MLAs to discuss pending works and sort out issues causing the delay.

Khattar said to instill a sense of pride among orphans, the words ‘Anath Ashram’ wherever written in Hindi, would be changed to ‘Jagannath Ashram’. He directed that a letter in this regard be sent to all such institutions in the state.

While reviewing the announcement for the construction of hostels in Jind, Rohtak, Fatehabad, Karnal and Hisar districts for the students belonging to Scheduled Castes and backward classes, he directed that till the construction of these hostels, alternative arrangements should be made either in any college or university.

He also directed to rechristen the post of Tehsil Welfare Officer asTehsil Antyodaya Officer.

The CM directed the Department of Medical Education to identify one acre land within or outside AIIMS at Badsa in Jhajjar district for the construction of a helipad for the convenience of patients and their relatives.
