The police have arrested a Rajasthan resident in connection with an alleged immigration fraud case registered in Kurukshetra.
The accused had allegedly sent the complainant’s son to Almaty instead of the US in 2023.
The accused has been identified as Motiram Chaudhary, a resident of Rajasthan.
Kurukshetra police spokesman Naresh Kumar said in July 2024, Sukhvinder Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra, in his complaint had stated that he wanted to send his son to the US. A deal was fixed for Rs 48 lakh and the accused had assured to send Sukhvinder’s son to the US via Thailand. The complainant stated that Rs 12.50 lakh was given in advance, along with the documents. In October 23, the accused had sent complainant’s son to Quba via Thailand, and after staying there for some time, he came back to India. The accused assured the complainant to send him to the US again, and in November 2023, he was sent to Almaty via Dubai. As the accused again failed to send the boy to the US, he came back to India.
The complainant alleged that the accused refused to give the money and documents back and threatened them with dire consequences. A case was registered at Ladwa police station, and the investigation was handed over to the Economic Offences Wing. The accused was arrested on Friday, and further investigation in the case is underway, the spokesman added.
