CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has been told that Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been physically tortured by other inmates and a conspiracy has been hatched to attack him.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has been told that Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been physically tortured by other inmates and a conspiracy has been hatched to attack him.

Appearing before the Division Bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha and first puisne Justice Rajiv Sharma, petitioner Dr Mohit Gupta’s counsel Ajay Prakash Singh made a mention regarding the filing of the petition with a request for early hearing.

Referring to an incident on June 22, he submitted that an undertrial and dera follower was murdered in Nabha jail. He submitted that the undertrial was later declared innocent and given a clean chit by the CBI.

The petition seeking directions for producing Ram Rahim in the High Court was yet to be listed for hearing. The dera chief was facing 20-year jail sentence for raping two followers.
