In a letter to CM Nayab Singh Saini, Rao Inderjit has demanded a separate budget for connecting the Dwarka Expressway to the Metro and for the sanitation system of Gurugram and Manesar Municipal Corporations.
A separate budget has also been requested to address the problem of contaminated water at the Dharuhera and Masani barrages. Furthermore, a budget announcement has been requested for the conservation of the Aravalli range.
"Gurugram is emerging as the country's economic capital. There is a dire need to expand public transportation for its residents. I urge you to develop a Metro corridor along the Dwarka Expressway to connect New Gurugram with public transportation. New Gurugram is developing around the Dwarka Expressway. I urge the government to make provisions for this in its budget," stated the letter. He said Gurugram had become the centre of global attention due to the shortcomings of sanitation in the Gurugram and Manesar MCs.
"Faridabad MC's garbage is also dumped in Gurugram district. Approximately 1,200 tonnes of garbage collected by the Gurugram and Manesar MCs and 700 to 800 tonnes of garbage collected by the Faridabad MC are being dumped in the Aravalli hills near Bandhwari village in Gurugram district every day. Due to the negligence of garbage collection agencies, the groundwater in half a dozen surrounding villages is getting contaminated, creating a serious health crisis, while the garbage mountains are growing in height every day. I urge the government to take this matter seriously and develop a plan to remove these garbage mountains, and to allocate a special budget for this purpose," he said.
"Due to the rapid development of Dharuhera and Bawal, a special budget should be provided for these cities as well," he added.
In the letter, Rao pointed out that following a recent Supreme Court order, questions were being raised about the safety of the Aravallis. "I urge you to allay people's doubts by announcing provisions regarding the conservation of the Aravallis in the budget," he said.
In the letter, he said the lives of residents of Dharuhera in Rewari were being affected by contaminated water coming from Bhiwadi in Rajasthan. He has demanded a separate budget for drainage in Dharuhera.
He said due to the polluted water coming from Bhiwadi in the Masani Barrage built near Dharuhera in Rewari, the water of the barrage had become polluted and was overflowing into agricultural fields.
"In this regard, the Haryana Government has approved a plan to put the water of the barrage in Drain No. 8 under a Rs 217-crore scheme. I request you that in the coming days a plan is made to clean the water of Bawal Industrial Area... You are also requested that the state government should make provision of funds in the budget for setting up STP and CTP in the industrial areas and urban sewerage water of Rewari, Bawal and Dharuhera so that in future, Masani Barrage can be filled with clean water," the letter said.
