Rao Kamalbir, Haryana JDU chief, joins Cong

New Delhi: Haryana JDU chief Rao Kamalbir Singh on Thursday joined the Congress in the presence of party general secretary incharge Ghulam Nabi Azad and the entire state party leadership.

New Delhi: Haryana JDU chief Rao Kamalbir Singh on Thursday joined the Congress in the presence of party general secretary incharge Ghulam Nabi Azad and the entire state party leadership. With Singh’s joining, the entire state JDU unit merged with the Congress. Rao Kamalbir is a relative of former JDU stalwart Sharad Yadav and also the brother of Rao Narbir Singh, the sitting MLA in the Khattar-led government in Haryana. Narbir is considered to be very close to Rao Kamalbir. The Congress is hoping that his exit would damage the BJP. Politically though, Rao Kamalbir is not considered a heavyweight. Although Kamalbir said he had joined the Congress unconditionally, the understanding is for him to contest Assembly poll from Badshahpur in Gurgaon LS segment. TNS
