An exhibition of rare and old books was organised at the library of Indira Gandhi National College, Ladwa, on Thursday.

The main objective of the event was to create awareness among students and society about the preservation of our cultural heritage, historical legacy and ancient knowledge.

Chief guest Naveen Dhiman, Municipal Engineer, Municipal Committee, Ladwa, while addressing the gathering, emphasised the importance of preserving our ancient heritage and rare books.

He encouraged the students to understand their cultural roots and actively participate in preserving such valuable resources for future generations.

In his address, college Principal Dr Kushal Pal stated that the library was not merely a place to study, but a centre of knowledge, culture and history.

He further added that such exhibitions played an important role in developing reading habits among the students and connecting them with their rich heritage.

On this occasion, librarian Dr Rupesh Gaur highlighted the significance of the exhibition and said many rare and old books preserved in the library were displayed. He also motivated the students to take proper care of books and use library resources responsibly.

He said more than 100 students participated in the event. They keenly observed the exhibited books and gained knowledge about their historical importance. A great sense of curiosity and interest was visible among the students throughout the programme.

Along with the exhibition, important information regarding preservation of books was also shared. The students were made aware of proper handling, conservation techniques and the importance of digitisation for long-term preservation.
