Candidates of all parties on Sunday went from door to door to woo voters and remained busy meeting workers and settling issues with annoyed voters in their constituencies. Strategies were finalised to bring out voters from their homes on Monday, the day of polling.

Pramod Vij, BJP candidate from Panipat City, held a meeting with his supporters at his election office. After that, he held meetings with his supporters at his house.

He said people were happy with policies of the state government. His wife Neeru Vij and Mayor Avneet Kaur held a door-to-door campaign in Model Town and adjoining areas.

Transport Minister and BJP candidate Krishan Lal Panwar, contesting from Israna, held a round of meetings with his supporters at his residence in the morning. He then met his supporters in various villages like Mandi, Adiana, Israna, Madlauda and Pardhana. He claimed that he would win again.

Dharam Singh Chhokkar, Congress candidate from Samalkha, visited Bharat Nagar, Rajiv Colony, Biholi, Bapoli and Samalkha and held meetings with his supporters.

BJP candidate Shashikant Kaushik went to various villages in Samalkha, Sanoli and Bapoli to meet his supporters and urged them to vote for him.

Capt Abhimanyu, Finance Minister and candidate from Narnaund, embarked on a personal contact campaign and held meetings with party office-bearers to give final touches to preparations.

In Hisar, wife of BJP candidate Kamal Gupta, accompanied by BJP activists, went to various residences to appeal for votes. Ramniwas Rada, Congress candidate from Hisar, contacted families who were upset with him.

The day was relatively quiet for Chander Mohan, Congress candidate from Panchkula. He spent the day meeting, orienting and motivating his booth-level workers. BJP candidate Gian Chand Gupta spent the day meeting his supporters and party leaders.

Code violated, 4 nominees booked 

Palwal: Four candidates have been booked in connection with the violation of the model code of conduct. They are Congress candidate Karan Singh Dalal, BJP’s Deepak Mangla and JJP’ Gaya Lal Chant, all three contesting from Palwal, and BSP’s Surender Vashist contesting from Prithla. No one has been arrested so far. A case under Section 3-A of the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1988, has been booked against the four contestants. A police official said they pasted posters and banners without obtaining permission from the authorities on October 19, the last day of campaigning. tns
