Report firearm use within 30 days or face action, Jhajjar Police warns licence holders
The report must include complete details such as the date, location, purpose of use and the number of cartridges fired
In an effort to tighten monitoring of licensed firearms, Dr Rajshree Singh, Police Commissioner of Jhajjar, has issued directives to all arms licence holders in the district. The orders have been implemented in compliance with instructions from the Haryana Home Department.
Under the guidelines, any licensed firearm holder must report the use of their weapon within 30 days to the concerned licensing authority. The report must include complete details such as the date, location, purpose of use and the number of cartridges fired.
Additionally, licence holders are required to deposit all used (empty) cartridges with the licensing authority after using their weapon. If, for any reason, the cartridges are unavailable, a written explanation must be submitted.
Commissioner Dr Singh emphasised that failure to provide timely or accurate information could lead to serious consequences. These include complications in licence renewal and potential legal action, such as suspension or cancellation of the arms licence.
Gun house operators have also been instructed to inform customers about these regulations at the time of selling ammunition. They must display notices prominently at their establishments to ensure that all licence holders are aware of the updated rules.
Appealing to all stakeholders, Dr Singh urged strict compliance with the directives, which have come into immediate effect. The initiative is intended to ensure safer and more controlled use of firearms across the district.
