The proposed AIIMS project in the state may spread to three more villages in the district, besides Manethi, to pave the way for its execution.

The district administration has, during its survey, found the land of adjoining Majra, Padla and Basduda villages suitable for the project.

Sources say the administration has prepared a report on the suitable land. It would be sent to the state authorities for the final nod. Details about private and panchayat land available for the project have been mentioned in the report. A site map has also been prepared to leave no room for confusion about the land.

“As per the report, the proposed building of the main hospital, administrative and academic blocks, and hostels for students have been planned on the land of Manethi and Majra villages, while a sewage-treatment plant, a power sub-station and residential quarters for doctors and staffers have been proposed on the land of Padla and Basduda villages,” the sources said.

he wheels started mohas come after the state government directed the district administration to ensure execution of the project in Manethi area no matter the legal hurdles regarding the land. The project requires at least 200 acres.

The Manethi gram panchayat has already passed a resolution, offering 225 acres for the project. But a report by the Centre’s Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) has said the land is part of the Aravalli Plantation Zone. The FAC report made the authorities look for another land close to Manethi village.

Deputy Commissioner Yashendra Singh said a team of officers had visited Manethi and nearby villagers on Friday to inspect the land. “A report has been prepared after discussing several aspects of the project with the officers,” he said, adding administrative formalities were being fulfilled to execute the project.

Signature drive launched

Local Congress MLA Chiranjeev Rao on Monday launched a signature camp to mount pressure on the state government to construct AIIMS at the earliest. “Rewari needs AIIMS to improve healthcare facilities in the region, but the state government is not showing interest. Hence, we have launched the signature campaign,” he said.
