Superintendent Anil Kumar and Deputy Superintendent Naresh Kumar of the District Jail in Rewari city have been placed under suspension reportedly in connection with the Fideri jailbreak case.

“The action has been taken against both the officers after the lapse was, during inquiry, found at their end in the Fideri jailbreak case. Besides them, the inquiry also exposed the negligence on the part of police personnel who had the responsibility of ensuring security of the jail premises,” said Jagjit Singh, IG (Jail), who conducted the preliminary inquiry into the matter. On the intervening night of May 8 and 9, 13 Covid-positive inmates escaped the jail after cutting the lock of the iron grill. The IG said most of the escaped inmates had been arrested from different locations.
