Rice mills owners, guarantors booked for Rs 22 cr FCI rice default in Karnal

Nissing police have registered three FIRs against rice millers and their guarantors for allegedly failing to deliver custom-milling rice (CMR) worth around Rs 22.12 crore to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in 2024-25.

The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department allotted paddy to these mills during the 2024-25 procurement season, requiring them to return 67 per cent of rice to the FCI. The FIRs followed a complaint by a department inspector.

Owners and guarantors of SK Foods Nissing, Krish Cereal Rice Mill Nissing, and RN Foods Rice Mill Nissing face charges. Harsh, Dinesh, and Kamal are named in the SK Foods case; Kamal, Dinesh, and Sunil in the Krish Cereal case and Ishwar Chand, Yogal, Sunil, and Kamal in the RN Foods case, confirmed Nissing SHO Shri Bhagwan.
