Rohtak varsity races to glory at inter-varsity men’s cross country championship

Nearly 800 athletes from 130 universities participate in the national-level event

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) has emerged victorious in the All India Inter-University Men’s Cross Country Championship 2025-26, held on its campus. The national-level event witnessed participation from over 130 universities and nearly 800 athletes from across the country, making it one of the most competitive editions in recent years, according to the organisers.

MDU clinched the championship title with an impressive 35 points. Shivaji University, Kolhapur, secured the second place with 61 points, while VBU Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, finished third with 62 points. The narrow margin between the second and third positions added to the excitement and intensity of the competition.

In the individual category, Abhishek from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, secured first place with a remarkable performance. Rakesh from Prayagraj finished second and Aadesh Kumar from Mangalore University secured the third place, showcasing outstanding athletic ability and determination.

The championship was inaugurated by MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh, who also felicitated the winners with trophies and medals. Dean of Academic Affairs Prof SC Malik and Registrar Dr Krishan Kant attended the ceremony as guests of honour and congratulated the participants.
