A girl from Ropar in Punjab has topped the Haryana Civil Services (Judicial Branch) examination 2017, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

Shweta Sharma, 25, secured 619.75 marks out of 1050 marks in her first attempt.

She did her schooling at local Shiwalik Public School till Class 10 and then moved to Chandigarh to pursue further studies and passed Class XII from Dev Samaj School Sector 21.

Later she got admission in Panjab University for her five year LLB and got her LLM degree from Army Institute of Law at Mohali.

Shweta, who has two siblings, gave credit to her parents and said it was their motivation that she could pass the examination.

Her father Pawan Sharma is an SDO at Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant and her mother Priya Sharma is a house wife.

Shivani Garg, 24, of Ludhiana is second while Priya Gupta, 24, of Karnal, stood third.

Devashi Janmeja, 26, has stood first in SC category and Vikas Verma, 25, is first in BCA category. Tabassum Khan, 30, has topped in BCB category.

A total of 27 candidates had qualified the exam and out of them 18 are women.

Among 14 qualified candidates in General Category, 12 are women. The exam was advertised for 107 posts.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had to cancel the exam after preliminary exam was leaked in 2017.

Registrar (recruitment) Balwinder Sharma along with beneficiaries was arrested, and recently a local court framed charges against them. The posts were then advertised again.
