Rozgar Nigam board approves porting of eligible Rohtak-PGIMS employees
Over 1,200 staffers had demanded inclusion; Section of them still protesting
In a major development, Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN) Limited, during a recent meeting of its Board of Directors, has guided that the PGIMS-Rohtak be informed to port those employees who fulfil the prescribed conditions related to qualifications, experience, and other terms and conditions of their respective job roles to the HKRN.
This development has brought significant relief especially to over 1,200 daily wage employees working at the PGIMS and the University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR), who are at present engaged through a private firm on daily wages.
These employees have long been demanding their porting to the HKRN for ensuring job security and access to benefits available to the HKRN employees. The UHSR authorities too have confirmed that the eligible employees would be ported to the HKRN as per the guidance by the Board of Directors of the HKRN.
“We will soon begin the process of porting eligible daily-wage employees of the PGIMS-UHSR to the HKRN portal. This decision will greatly benefit those employees who have long been demanding it. From the beginning, we have made sincere efforts to ensure their inclusion on the HKRN portal, sending several official communications to the state authorities and personally contacting the officers concerned,” said Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor, UHSR.
Aggarwal added these efforts had finally borne fruit, with the HKRN Board of Directors resolving to port the employees to the HKRN.
Notably, a section of over 1,200 daily-wage employees has been agitating for the past seven months to press this demand. As part of their protest, the employees recently took out a march and burnt an effigy of the state government in Kurukshetra to draw attention to their cause. They have been camping at Kurukshetra for the past 10 days.
“Since June, we have been on strike. Initially, we staged a sit-in protest in Rohtak but later it was carried out in Karnal for two months, but no action was taken. After holding a protest in Kurukshetra on Monday, a five-member delegation of the association met the Deputy Commissioner who assured us that he would facilitate a meeting with the government and senior officers within some days,” said one of the protesters.
He claimed their demand for shifting to the HKRN was justified, stating that the government had already linked thousands of employees from other departments with the HKRN. He questioned why contractual employees working at the PGIMS, Rohtak, faced discrimination.
“Following the reason, we have decided to intensify the agitation if it is not met soon. We will stage a protest in Kurukshetra on December 26 in support of our demand. We will not end the agitation until the demand is met,”said the protester.
Meanwhile, former minister and senior BJP leader Manish Grover stated that he had raised the employees’ demand with the government, urging that they be ported to the HKRN to ensure they received all associated benefits. Expressing his appreciation for the recent decision, Grover thanked Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Chief Secretary, and all officials of the HKRN. “This decision will provide significant advantages to the employees working at the PGIMS and UHSR,” Grover added.
