Rs 28L heist at Hisar bank; thieves breach wall, safe

Unknown thieves broke into a Sarv Haryana Gramin Bank branch in Nangthla village, Hisar district, last night and stole around Rs 28 lakh in cash.

Staff discovered the burglary upon opening the bank this morning. Miscreants cut through the rear wall, entered the strong room, and used a cutter to crack the safe, taking Rs 27.92 lakh, sources said. They damaged most CCTV cameras, but one captured a masked, cap-wearing suspect inside.

DSP Kishori Lal led a police team to the scene, deploying the dog squad and fingerprint experts. The police suspect 5-6 thieves struck after midnight on Sunday. Footage from nearby homes and sites was being analysed.

Bank manager Ankit Kundu noted the branch was closed for two days over holidays, which the gang exploited.

Multiple teams, including CIA, Barwala Special Team and Agroha Police, are probing the crime scene, recording statements and preparing to register the case.
