Sonepat, January 13

Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain said today that various development projects estimated to cost nearly Rs 435 crore had been started by the state government in the Sonepat Municipal Corporation area this month.

The minister was speaking after commencing the laying of Rs 114 crore new sewer lines of 235-km-length in the town. After its completion, around 12,000 new sewer connections would be released in different localities of the town, she added.

The minister said that other projects started in January included Rs 175 crore solid waste management, Rs 58 crore drinking water supply project and Rs 57 crore project for covering of the drain number 6 passing through the town on the pattern of the Mughal canal in Karnal.

Assuring that the ongoing projects would be completed within the stipulated time, BJP’s state media in charge Rajiv Jain claimed that the state government was committed to improving the living standards of the people by providing better civic amenities.
