Rs 8K lakh to provide basic amenities in 49 colonies

PANIPAT: The municipal corporation (MC) has almost finalised estimates of Rs 8,461 lakh to provide potable water, streets and drains in 49 colonies, which have been approved by the state government recently.

The municipal corporation (MC) has almost finalised estimates of Rs 8,461 lakh to provide potable water, streets and drains in 49 colonies, which have been approved by the state government recently.

According to sources in the MC, the government had approved 49 colonies in September while 29 colonies were regularised in April this year. Now, the MC officials have prepared a detailed project report of the development works in these colonies.

They said Rs 4,348 lakh would be spent on the construction of roads with interlocking tiles and open drains in these colonies, while for potable water, Rs 3,953 lakh would be spent.

MC Commissioner Pradeep Dagar said the estimates of Rs 8,461 lakh to provide basic amenities in the recently approved 49 colonies had also been almost finalised. It would be sent to Urban Local Bodies directorate for approval on Tuesday, he added.

Besides, the government had also approved Rs 33 crore for providing potable water in 29 colonies which were authorised in April. Around 102-km-long pipelines would be laid in these 29 colonies under AMRUT scheme, he said.

The MC had sent a proposal to regularise 79 colonies out of which maximum are in Panipat rural constituency. The government had approved 78 colonies out of 79.
