Ambala, August 13
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Prem Singh Chandumajra said here on Friday that the options for alliance in Haryana were open and the state unit of the SAD had been given a free hand to have partnership with any party except the Congress after discussing the matter with the high command.
He was here to assign the duties of SAD leaders for the Pipli rally scheduled for August 19.
Speaking to mediapersons, Chandumajra said, “The SAD has been a regional party, but now it is ready to play the role of a national-level political party in the country. Along with Haryana, the SAD would contest elections in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh too. Rallies have been scheduled for these two states too. The rally would help the SAD to show its strength in Haryana and also to identify the candidates for the upcoming elections. The party would field its candidates in the Lok Sabha elections too. While the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat has been identified, the party may introduce its candidate in Sirsa too.”
“The Sikhs in Haryana have been playing a crucial role in its development, maintaining brotherhood, economy, and agriculture, but they have not got their due representation in politics,” he said.
Chandumajra said, “In the past, we used to borrow candidates, but this time, only the bonafide SAD members would be given tickets.” He praised Haryana Chief Minister for several steps, including announcements of projects after Sikh Gurus and celebrating birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.
About the call of organising a rally on the same venue by the HSGMC, he said “Jagdish Singh Jhinda has the tendency of creating obstacles and he has always suffered a loss due to this. He can organise the rally somewhere else, as the creation of such circumstances may disturb the law and order situation. He has been doing such things on someone’s directions.”
