Sadbhav Yatra ends in Rohtak; Hooda, Congress MLAs skip event

The Sadbhav Yatra, led by former Hisar MP and Vice-Chairman of the Congress’ Foreign Affairs Department Brijendra Singh, concluded in Rohtak on Saturday evening with a six-kilometre march from Rajeev Chowk to Bhiwani Stand.

Although all former Haryana Congress presidents, including former Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda, were invited to the concluding ceremony, neither Hooda nor any of the three Congress MLAs from the district attended.

State Congress president Rao Narendra Singh, former state president Dharampal Malik, former Union Minister Ch Birendra Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala, senior Congress leader Kuldeep Sharma, and AICC secretary Jitendra Baghel were among the prominent leaders present.

Earlier, the yatra began from Rajeev Chowk and passed through the city’s main road before culminating at its final point. It was warmly received at several locations along the route, with participants dancing to drum beats.

Speaking at the event, Brijendra Singh said the yatra initially seemed a daunting task but became easier with public support and the dedication of party workers.

“During the yatra, we understood the pulse of the people and the issues they face at the grassroots. We witnessed farmers’ plight, acute unemployment among youth, and the distress caused by the BJP government’s failures,” he said, accusing the BJP of indulging in divisive politics for political gain.

Calling the BJP “anti-Dalit”, Brijendra asserted that the Congress is the only party capable of defeating it, given its organisational strength and ideology. He expressed gratitude to supporters, saying he would remain indebted to them for life.

Surjewala also launched a sharp attack on the BJP government, alleging it had divided people along caste lines and weakened the backbone of every section of society, including farmers, traders and labourers.
