Saini inaugurates, lays stones of 600 projects worth ~3,400 cr

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today laid the foundation stones of 600 different projects worth Rs 3,400 crore across the state. The foundation stones were laid through video conferencing during a state-level programme held here. He also handed over appointment letters to 104 TGT-Punjabi and 3,878 Group-D candidates on the occasion.
The Chief Minister launched the portal for Mukhya Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana expansion. Under this scheme, the state will provide plots of 100 sq yards each in villages and 50 sq yards in Mahagram villages to those who do not own land.
He also criticised the previous Congress-led government, stating it had discriminated in allotting plots and failed to provide possession or documentation, leaving people in the lurch.
The CM inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 600 different projects of road works, water facilities, health institutions, schools, colleges, power stations, canals, drains, and bridges among others across the state. The inaugurated works included 220 projects worth Rs 1,190 crore. The foundation stones were laid for 380 projects worth Rs 2,210 crore.
He said this was the 10th programme in which foundation stones had been laid, totalling up to 2,891 projects worth Rs 24,221 crore.
He said, ‘Bachon ko padhai, Yuvayon ko kamai, Buzurgon aur gareebon ko muft dawaai, Kisano ko tail tak sinchai, Jan-jan ki sunwai, yehi hai vikas ka rajmarg’ (Education for children, employment opportunities for youth, free medicine for the elderly and Antyodaya, welfare of farmers, and accessibility for all — this is the roadmap to development).
He said the simultaneous inauguration and foundation stone-laying of projects reflected a vision of comprehensive development across all sectors.
He said the state government has ensured merit-based recruitment and thus eliminated the tradition of corruption in recruitment.
Speaker Gian Chand Gupta said today the dreams of meritorious youth are being fulfilled. He congratulated those who were given appointment letters. Finance Minister JP Dalal said the government was committed to providing rights to youth. “We have employed 1.45 lakh youth through a transparent recruitment process in the past decade.”
